Call me crazy but I LOVE LOVE LOVE sunrise sessions! I'm not a morning person at all, but the lighting is so worth it!

I'm so excited to share Christina & Alana's sunrise engagement session!
I know what you are thinking... why in the world would someone want to do a session at 5am? Well, I'd say that 90% of my sessions in downtown Chicago are at sunrise, or pretty close to it. I am able to get shots with beautiful soft light without having to worry about other people in the background of my photos; which is usually the case in the evening. My clients are awesome enough to trust me when it comes to things like this. ;) Although, this time, it was the other way around. Christina and Alana were the ones who suggested a sunrise session. This was the spot where they had their first date. Christina invited Alana to go watch the sunrise with her over Lake Michigan, and the rest is history. I absolutely love it when couples choose locations that are part of their story. And, let's face it, this setting so romantic!
Then the sun peeked out from behind the clouds and allowed me to capture this beautiful silhouette!
And then, five minutes later, because it's Chicago... it rained! But we went with it!!
Kissing in the (sunny?) rain... Seriously, how could you not love these two?
Then we walked back to the harbor for a few more shots.

I was so excited about this session. I shot Laura's cousin's wedding a couple of years ago.
I wasn't surprised when Lauren & James ended up being just as awesome as Tara & Jason! Here are a few favorites from their engagement session.
First we headed to North Avenue Beach. I love it there in the morning!
Then we headed over to the Adler Planetarium where you can see the entire Chicago skyline. So gorgeous!
This is actually the spot where James proposed.
They were on a date at Adler After Dark , and James brings her outside and gets down on one knee. So romantic!
